Membership Options
1) When I buy a membership, when can I begin using it?
- Your membership begins when your payment has been processed. When you purchase at COSI, you will receive a receipt showing your payment. If you buy online, by mail, or by phone, you can visit anytime after your order. Just tell Member Services you haven't received your Member cards yet and/or present the receipt from your membership purchase.
- Member cards are mailed 3-4 weeks after the date of purchase.
2) Can I put an additional adult or childcare worker on my membership?
- Yes. The Add-On Guest option can be added to any membership category for $20. You can purchase up to two Add-On Guests and then may bring your Add-On Guests each visit.
- Since the Add-On Guest is unnamed, Add-On Guests are not Members but do get free admission when they are visiting with a current COSI member whose membership features the Add-On Guest option.
3) I am a home school parent; do I qualify for the Teacher Membership?
- Yes, we will extend the Teacher family membership price to those families who choose to educate their children from home.
- To qualify, we need at the time of purchase or renewal a copy of the home school letter that was provided by the superintendent of your local school district. Please contact your local school district for this documentation, if you do not already have it.
4) How do I qualify for a reduced-rate membership?
- The Family Access Membership admits up to two adults and all dependent children age18 and under residing in the same household for the cost of $20.
- To be eligible, families will need to provide photo ID plus one of the following forms of identification: Ohio Directions Card, Medicaid Card, WIC Card.
- Family Access Memberships are available through the Box Office or mail only. Additional restrictions may apply.
5) How do I know when my membership expires and will I get a renewal notice?
- The expiration date of your membership is printed on your membership card. The Membership Department will send you a renewal reminder 60 days prior to your expiration date.

Membership Cards
1) When will I receive my membership cards?
- It takes about 3-4 weeks to receive your membership cards. If you have not received your membership cards within this time period, please contact us.
- Replacement card requests (for never received, lost, or stolen cards) are mailed within 3-4 weeks.
2) How many cards will I receive?
- You will receive two membership cards. Additional cards are available by request by contacting us at 614.228.COSI or email membership@mail.cosi.org.
3) Can I use my membership without my membership cards?
- All visiting members, including children attending without parents, should present a Membership card, and a valid photo identification card (for those of driving age), at the Members Check-in.
- If you have misplaced or forgotten your membership card, we can also look Members up in our Member database at Member Services to confirm membership status. Children must provide the main adult names in order to find the membership.
- The Add-On Guest feature is also listed in our Member database at Member Services. If a membership features an Add-On Guest, a Member (adult or child) on that membership must be visiting for the guest to get in free.
4) Can Member children visit COSI when a parent is not present?
- Yes. Children should present their parents’ membership card at Members’ Check-in.
- Those children of driving age must also provide a photo ID.
- Children 12 and under must be with an adult chaperone.

- To avoid interruption of your membership correspondence, please email membership@mail.cosi.org or call COSI 614.228.COSI to update your information.

Membership Benefits
1) What is ASTC or is my membership good at other museums?
- ASTC stands for Association of Science-Technology Centers. COSI Members can visit museums that are members of ASTC and receive free admission through the ASTC reciprocal program. Some restrictions apply.
- Free admission may be limited for some museums. For details, check each museums’ listing on the ASTC Passport Program List you received with your membership cards.
- Special exhibits or theaters may not be included in the free admission.
- Science centers located in the same market area (within 90 miles of each other) are excluded from the program unless lifted by mutual agreement. Please call the science center you plan to visit to make sure you are eligible to receive the admission benefit.
- It is strongly encouraged that Members contact other museums before visiting to verify admission policies and museum hours of operation.
2) What is the difference: Extreme Screen Theater ticket versus Member Movie Pass?
- An Extreme Screen timed ticket offers a guaranteed seat at a specific time in the film for which you purchased the ticket.
- The "Member Movie Pass" offers unlimited access to the Extreme Screen Theater all day long on the day of purchase. The movie pass costs the same as an Extreme Screen timed ticket but allows Members the flexibility of attending any movie time that fits into their day! The Movie Pass does not guarantee a seat for any sold out film times.
3) Can I bring a guest to Member events and previews?
- Generally, Member events are for Members only as an exclusive benefit.
- The Adult membership category allows the Member to bring one complimentary guest each visit, so a guest could attend with the Adult Member for these types of Members-only events.
- The Add-On Guest option adds a guest to any membership category each visit. This Add-On Guest option would also apply to Members-only events. Any Member with Add-On Guests on their membership can bring guests (number is based on the number of Add-On Guests they have listed on their membership) to any Members-Only events.
