New Products - FME 2000


Safe Software, Burnaby, B.C., recently released FME 2000. The latest version of Safe's flagship product supports over 55 common GIS, CAD, and database formats. New formats supported by FME include S-57, SpatialWare, Tiger, SDTS, and DTED.

In addition to the proven components and capabilities that FME is already known for, FME 2000 will ship with the foloowing:

  • Universal Viewer: This utility allows quick viewing of diverse data sets. The viewer gives access to both geometric and attribute data.
  • Universal Reader: This ArcView extension allows direct viewing and import of data into ArcView.
  • FME Workbench Technology Preview: This programming environment allows users to configure the flow of data from one format to another.
  • FME Objects API: This interface to all FME facilities supports code written in C++, C, COM, Java, and Avenue.
  • FME Plugin Developer kit API: This programming interface enables third parties to add support for new data formats and capabilities to FME.

    "FME 2000 leverages the power of the FME core to deliver a suite of data access tools that meet even the most demanding GIS, CAD or database needs," said Jeff Hoedeman, VP Marketing and Strategic Alliances at Safe Software, Inc.
