ArcView Tip - How do I increase the number of Decimal Places Used and Displayed in the Table of Contents?
Problem:Classifying data and data display rounds data to three decimal places.
Solution: Here's how to change the precision:
- Copy the following script into a new script window
'Get the Active View
theView = av.GetActiveDoc
'Change this to set the Precision you want
'ArcView will use 10 to the power of thePrecision
'to determine the number of significant digits
thePrecision = -3
'Get the Active Theme
theTheme = theView.GetActiveThemes.Get(0)
'Get the Legend to be modified
theLegend = theTheme.getLegend
'Set the precision of the legend
theLegend.SetPrecision(thePrecision)
- Compile the script by pressing the "checkmark" in the toolbar or selecting the "Compile"
option from the "Script" menu.
- Make your view the active window.
- Select a theme you want to modify the precision of.
- Make your script window active and run the script.
- Make your view active again to refresh the display.
