Alto Technology Appoints New Marketing Director
Dr. John McKeon Brings Extensive Remote Sensing Experience to
Alto Technology Resources
Houston, TX, March 26, 2001—Alto Technology Resources, Inc., the
leader in hyperspectral remote sensing imaging, has named Dr. John
McKeon to the new position of Marketing Director, responsible for
directing and coordinating Alto’s domestic and international sales
and marketing efforts from the company’s Houston headquarters.
“We are very fortunate to find such a talented individual to join the
Alto Technology team of experts,” said Dr. Alfredo Prelat, Alto
President and CEO. “John has devoted more than 25 years of his
career to remote sensing technology, with both direct end-user
corporate experience in the oil and gas industry and commercial
expertise in the software sector. He has hands-on knowledge of
acquiring, processing and interpreting field spectral data and airborne
hyperspectral data, using early prototypes of the technology later
refined by Alto Technology Resources. John’s background augments
the considerable internal talent we already have, which is unmatched
by anyone else in our industry.”
During Dr. McKeon’s career, he has conducted numerous projects
using satellite and airborne image data in diverse areas, including
exploration geology, resource assessment, land cover inventory,
water quality mapping and air pollution monitoring. Most recently, Dr.
McKeon was regional sales manager for Earth Resource Mapping,
where he directed sales of image processing, image compression
and image serving software to commercial and government markets.
Prior to this assignment, he spent five years at Spot Image
Corporation, ultimately being promoted to Western Resources
Account Manager, responsible for all commercial accounts and sales
of the company’s satellite image products in the Western U.S.
Dr. McKeon worked for Atlantic Richfield Corporation for 11 years,
serving as Principal Research Geologist at the company’s R&D
headquarters when he left in 1994. During his tenure with ARCO, he
was coordinator of airborne experiments for the remote detection of
marine oil seeps, supervisor for surface geochemistry exploration
applications, and technical coordinator of the conventional remote
sensing group. Certified as a Mapping Scientist in Remote Sensing
by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing,
Dr. McKeon earned a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from
Johns Hopkins University, a master’s in geology from the University
of Maine, and a Ph.D. in geology from Ohio State University.
“I am eager to help get Alto’s exciting message out to commercial
markets beyond oil & gas and mining,” Dr. McKeon said. “Alto has
an unrivaled airborne sensor system that can provide a rich resource
of geospatial information for customers in multiple sectors, including
engineering, environmental, forestry, agriculture and
telecommunications. Alto’s professional staff has years of
hyperspectral data experience, and I’m particularly pleased to be part
of a company that works hard to educate consumers about this
relatively new tool by emphasizing technology transfer to each
client.”
