Farm Days Come to COSI
The working of Big Tractors and Little Seeds
Columbus (August 2008)--COSI brings the farm to the city for the fourth year in a row as Farm Days: Little Seeds, Big Tractors opens Wednesday, August 13th through Sunday, August 17th. During this event, more than 25 pieces of huge farming equipment including 2 combines will be arranged downtown on COSI’s English Plaza and Washington Blvd.
Visitors can climb into the cabs of tractors, a combine, lawn and garden equipment, and more. Kids can test their driving skills on a pedal tractor obstacle course, milk a (fake) cow, and make a seed necklace to take home. Visitors can also conduct a soil test and view biodiesel and ethanol demonstrations.
Farm Days will teach how food makes its way from the farm to the grocery store to the dinner table, thus teaching how the farming industry affects American lifestyles.
New for 2008: Play the "Path of a Farmer" game. Visitors can try managing their own farm as they travel the "Path of a Farmer" and learn about the partners and resources needed to be a successful farmer.
Visitors can also collect a set of free Farm Days trading cards. Each card represents equipment, crops, and more that an Ohio farmer would use. A new trading card with Ohio farmer facts is being introduced this year.
