GDT Promotes Benson to Vice President of Development
May 8, 2000, Lebanon, NH - Geographic Data Technology, Inc., a developer of premier map databases, announced today that Jay Benson has been promoted to Vice President of Development with responsibility for GDT’s business and product development efforts.

Benson joined GDT last year as Director of Business Development. In that role, he has helped expand GDT’s presence in several new markets, including the evolving location services marketplace, which includes applications such as in-car navigation, automatic vehicle location (AVL), fleet management and call center-based navigation services. Benson, along with newly named Vice President of Transportation Data Products Dan Adams, was instrumental in helping establish GDT as a data provider for the top-rated DENSO navigation systems. In his new role as Vice President of Development, Benson will continue to lead GDT’s business development efforts with a focus on the international, telecommunications and utilities marketplaces. In addition, he will spearhead GDT’s product development efforts.

Before coming to GDT, Benson was a manager and consultant at Renaissance Worldwide, Inc., a strategy and technology consulting firm. While with Renaissance, Benson assisted a variety of companies with product development, strategic planning, and business analysis. Previously, Benson was a systems consultant and product manager for Logic Associates, Inc. in White River Junction, VT. Benson holds a bachelor's degree in geography from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business Administration.

"Jay’s expertise has been critical to GDT’s rapid growth over the last year, and he’s helped secure our presence in the emerging location services market," said Mike Gerling, GDT's president. "His strong business skills and keen understanding of the needs of customers in our identified target markets will continue to be a strong asset as we grow and evolve our business."
