Frogs: A Chorus of Colors

Frogs: A Chorus of Colors is a hands-on, minds-on adventure! Visitors can view LIVE frogs from all over the world, activate recorded frog calls, spin a zoetrope, and perform a virtual frog dissection. The exhibition explores all aspects of frogs: biology, natural history, their role in human cultures, their importance to ecosystems, and the peril they face in a changing environment. These amphibians are among the most visually stunning, vocally pleasing, and adaptively remarkable life forms on earth. Wise About Eyes

Wise About Eyes is an interactive exhibit that explores how eye safety, health, and anatomy and the process of vision and why some people wear glasses. The Wise About Eyes exhibit features five interactive kiosks that provide high-tech activities and learning experiences to educate you and your family about how you can keep your eyes healthy and safe for your lifetime. Wise About Eyes was developed as a joint venture between the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Dayton, Ohio, and Prevent Blindness Ohio. The exhibit and associated programming are made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Child and Family Health Services, Save Our Sight Fund . Other supporters of Wise About Eyes include the Ohio Association of School Nurses, the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, the Ohio Optometric Association, and the Opticians Association of Ohio.

Funding for the Wise About Eyes exhibit is provided by the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Child and Family Health Services, Save Our Sight Program.

Find Your Voice

Join us at COSI on Friday, April 24 from 5-8 pm for "Find Your Voice," a special evening hosted by the Miracle-Gro Capital Scholars @ COSI program featuring music, poetry, and performances by Columbus youth.

Through "Find Your Voice," families and community organizations are standing together to strengthen families and help youth speak out against child abuse and neglect. Agencies will be on hand to provide important information and resources.

Pinwheels for Prevention

Join the Miracle-Gro Capital Scholars@COSI program and Prevent Child Abuse Ohio in planting "Pinwheels for Prevention"! Come plant a pinwheel on COSI's front lawn and participate in a "Healthy Family, Healthy Planet" activity in COSI's atrium!

On Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 12pm-2pm we will work together to plant over 3,000 "Pinwheels for Prevention" at COSI. This number represents HALF of the reported cases of child abuse and neglect in Franklin County, Ohio. The purpose of planting pinwheels is to provide a visual demonstration of how many people are speaking out against child abuse. Help us spread this message by planting pinwheels with us at COSI!

COSI invites you to our Open House for Early Childhood Educators! On Friday, April 24, from 5pm to 7pm, meet members of the COSI Faculty, learn about COSI's early childhood resources, explore our newest exhibition, Frogs: A Chorus of Colors, see Dolphins on COSI's Extreme Screen, and more - all FREE for early childhood educators with a valid school ID. Includes free admission for one additional guest per educator.
