Big Fun for Your Head and Body

This laboratory in the sun is proof that science is anything but boring with larger-than-life activities designed to let your inner scientist stomp around and shout out loud. Lift a car with the help of a lever, move a 2.5-ton granite sphere, and play with air pressure.

Don’t miss a dizzying spin on the Centripetal Generator - experience centripetal force firsthand as the floor of the generator drops out below you! Big Science Park fosters the spirit of learning by putting you into the experiments.

COSI Prairie in Big Science Park

The prairie in Big Science Park resembles the landscape in parts of Ohio prior to the arrival of European settlers. Returning the land to its native state benefits human health and the environment.

Prairies rarely need mowing, which means that the air is not being polluted by lawn mowers. Prairies create habitat for a host of birds, insects, spiders, and mammals. Prairies do not require fertilizing and watering, which protects water resources.

Even small prairies are valuable. At COSI you can see what a small prairie meadow looks like and you can see a prairie garden where native plants have been used to create a perennial flower bed.
