During your visit to COSI, view the time lapse video of COSI's construction.

Some facts about COSI:

  • The 158 precast concrete slabs that form the outer walls of the building took 33,000 person hours to design, engineer, construct, and erect.

  • The heaviest slab is 49,600 pounds.

  • A mile and a half of steel separates the 158 slabs.  In all, 1,200 tons of steel form the skeleton of the building.  The largest pieces are the 28 ton steel girders that stretch one hundred feet across the roof.
