Friendship 7
This full scale model of John Glenn's Friendship 7 Mercury capsule shows visitors the conditions these early astronauts endured during their flights. The Friendship 7 launch was one of six piloted Mercury Project flights by NASA between 1961 and 1963. The project’s goals were to orbit a manned spacecraft around Earth, investigate the pilot’s ability to function in space, and recover both the pilot and spacecraft safely.
