Pin Wall

A pixel (short for "picture element") is a single dot in a digital picture.  Look closely at a photograph in a newspaper or on a computer screen, and you'll see the pixels.

In a sense, the picture isn't there at all; it exists only in your brain where the separate points come together to form an image.  In this exhibit, the pins act like very coarse pixels working together to make a rough image of you.
