Books Written for the Exhibition

Critically acclaimed British novelist Simon Mawer wrote a nonfiction book, also called Gregor Mendel: Planting the Seeds of Genetics, to accompany the exhibition. Featuring color pictures of exhibition artifacts and Mendel’s environment, along with images representing the milestones of genetics since Mendel’s time, this book serves as an exhibition catalogue.

In addition, Cheryl Bardoe, senior project manager for this exhibition, wrote a picture-book biography about Mendel. Gregor Mendel: The Friar Who Grew Peas is targeted at children 6-to-10-years old.

This exhibition and its North American tour were developed by The Field Museum, Chicago, Illinois, in partnership with The Vereinigung zur Forderung der Genomforschung, Vienna, Austria, and The Mendel Museum, Brno, Czech Republic.
