Ocean for Preschoolers

Vortex

Suggestion Allow your child to turn the wheel, experimenting with the speed at which they turn the wheel. Ask questions on how the speed of the wheel being turned effects what happens inside the vortex.
Concept Allow your preschooler to control the strength of the water.

Fact Children between the ages of three and six make great advances in gross motor skills. This permits better coordination between what a child wants to do and what a child can do.

Ball Fountain

Suggestion Have your preschooler try to balance the ball on top of the water. Does the ball speed up or slow down? How does this work? If you disturb the water flow, what happens to the ball?
Concept The preschooler can develop cause and effect understanding. The child will be able to manipulate the water flow and the ball's ability to balance.
Fact Preschoolers can reason correctly about cause and effect if they have the opportunity to learn about specific concepts.
