Progress Morse Code

Try Morse Code in the Telegram Office

In 1898, the Amalgamated Telegraph Company provided a means to send messages over telegraph lines around the world. In Progress, you can practice your Morse Code messages.  Be careful though... Samuel, the owner’s pet bird, may listen in and repeat your message back to you!

Morse code was created by Samuel Morse, the American inventor and painter.

He invented an electromagnetic device that broke an electric circuit between the battery and receiver, creating tones.

Short tones and long tones were represented by dots and dashes. These dots and dashes made it simple to send words and numbers over very large distances almost instantaneously.
