The Color of Science 2020

A core initiative for COSI since 2018, The Color of Science program is a signature diversity and inclusion program which showcases the superb contributions of women, persons of color, and members of the LGBTQ community to modern science and engineering and their impacts on our society regionally, nationally, and globally. Highlighting these remarkable men and women demonstrates to the next generation the myriad of incredible opportunities for all populations in a variety of careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

This annual program has two key components:

Adult Evening Event
A lively discussion panel at COSI that gives the public the chance to meet some of today’s brightest scientists from diverse backgrounds and fields, and to hear their extraordinary stories in person. Guests have the opportunity to mingle with the featured scientists at an fun evening reception featuring an international menu.

Passport to The Color of Science Youth Program
An interactive educational experience and career exploration program at COSI for local inner city middle school students. Students navigate through COSI exhibits with a “passport” in hand, interacting personally with a variety of diverse local STEM professionals. Students engage with scientists and learn about potential STEM career paths that are right here in Columbus, Ohio.
