A college student who called COSI her 'second home' throughout high school is poised to impact global health.

Ezinne Anaba aspires to make an impact on health care internationally, but she knows she has a lot of work to do before then.

First she must finish her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Kent State University, where she is currently a sophomore with a 4.0 GPA, and then she’ll pursue a master’s degree in public health. After that, perhaps she’ll go for a Ph.D. in nursing.

What has helped shape Anaba into the confident, accomplished young woman she is today? COSI.

Anaba was accepted into the Miracle-Gro Capital Scholars program at COSI, supported by ScottsMiracle-Gro, her freshman year of high school. That was the first time she had set foot in COSI, the place she now lovingly calls her “second home.” As a Miracle-Gro Capital Scholar throughout high school, she spent many hours at COSI after school, completing her homework and participating in service activities that taught her to give back to the community. During high school, Anaba also participated in COSI Academy, a career exploration program for high school students considering STEM careers.

Now, Anaba is able to fully concentrate on her studies in Kent State's rigorous nursing program thanks to a full-ride scholarship made possible by ScottsMiracle-Gro and the Hagedorn Family Foundation, which provide scholarships for all graduates of the Miracle-Gro Capital Scholars program.
